Acrocanthosaurus was an Allosaurid Theropod Dinosaur of early Cretaceous North America, with a particularily tall spine column, giving it a similar appearance to the Spinosaurids of the same time period. Unlike Spinosaurids, who we're mostly marine hunting animals, specialized in fast moving fish or marine reptiles, or other Allosaurids who we're notorious, lightly built sauropod hunters, Acrocanthosaurus is a heavy built predator that prefers slow moving prey and carrion over other meat.
[edit] In Jurassic Park
Acrocanthosaurus may not be seen in the movies, but its close relative, Metriacanthosaurus, has its name next to a vial in the Cold Storage Room, in Jurassic Park, and listed on a map.
[edit] In Operation Genesis
Acrocanthosaurus may be seen in Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, as a four-star large carnivore. It is often used in carnivore dominance duels, in which you pit two large carnivores against each other in a high-stakes fight over territory. Females, at least, are highly territorial.
