Ajay Sidhu was a hunter of Indian descent, a member of the hunter team and Roland Tembo's best friend in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

History[]

Although he is never seen firing it, his weapon of choice was a Winchester Model 70. He accompanied the InGen group to the island.

When the male and female Tyrannosaurus attack the camp, Ajay tries to pull Roland back to safety while he attempts to fire his rifle at the female Tyrannosaur's brain, but two other hunters pull him away. The group managed to escape the female T. rex by going through a cave and into a field of long grass. However, Ajay, being an experienced hunter, called out the other hunters for entering the field and throws his bag in to serve as a warning, as it is where the Velociraptors are lurking. He is killed after he follows his group into the long grass, trying to convince them to return. His death is never actually seen, although his screams are heard. This is confirmed by Roland and Malcolm, who discover his backpack.

Behind the Scenes[]

One of The Lost World's deleted scenes featured the main characters (including Ajay) hang-gliding to get away from the Velociraptors. The group makes out of the tall grass and over a cliff to safety, only to be ambushed by Pteranodons. Ajay (or another balding bespectacled character) was supposed to be ripped apart by the winged predators, a scene so gruesome that Sarah had to look away.

Another deleted scene shows Ajay meeting Roland in a bar and convincing him to join Peter Ludlow's team on Isla Sorna.[1]

He mentioned Rajasaurus briefly to Ronald Tembo, which made it to the storyboard, but was not shot.

Trivia[]

  • Although portrayed as a supposed Indian character, Ajay was portrayed by the white English actor Harvey Jason.
    • This suggests that Sidhu is biracial; being of mixed white and South Asian heritage.
  • Ajay was the first Indian character and very first major South Asian character to appear in the Jurassic Park series. Another character of Indian descent would not appear until Irfan Khan as Simon Masrani in the 2015 film Jurassic World.
  • People have speculated that a scene where Ajay dies exists since the scene was included in the final shooting script, also a photo of Ajay looking around in the grass alone exists and another photo of a Raptor getting set up with its head above the long grass. And in the script, Ajay would simply close his eyes and this would be the last time we ever see him in The Lost World.
  • In an interview with Harvey Jason by YouTuber Jurassic Prince, Jason claimed that he was angry that Steven Spielberg cut the Roland and Ajay meeting scene. Jurassic Prince also asks Jason if he remembers if there was scene where his character died, Jason replied that he didn't remember.
