Allosaurus ("strange lizard") was a carnivorous theropod Dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic period, 150 to 140 million years ago. Its fossils have been found in the Morrison Formation, USA; the Tendaguru Beds, Tanzania; partial remains in Portugal, and a possible dwarf Allosaurus from the Early Cretaceous Dinosaur Cove in Australia. It is not related to Tyrannosaurus, since T.rex evolved from small carnivores that first appearerd in the Jurassic period, the very time Allosaurus was abundant.

Large saurapods from the jurrasic period show allosaurus tooth imprints, wich means if the allosaur illed the saurapod it must have hunted in packs, because one allosaurus alone could not bring down such large dinosaurs.

[edit] Jurassic Park

Allosaurus has not yet been featured in a Jurassic Park movie or novel, but rumors are spreading that it may be featured in the upcoming film, Jurassic Park IV.

[edit] The Lost World game

Allosaurus first appeared in the PSX game of The Lost World. Here, they were shown as living in caves near the Human Camp in large numbers and would attack a Tyrannosaurus moving through the area. They bear a similar orange/brown striped pattern to the later appearance in Operation Genesis.

[edit] Operation Genesis

Allosaurus is in the video game Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis as a four-star large carnivore. Females appear to be orange to brown in color and they seem to spent most of the time stalking in the dense woodlands. Even though it is not very fast to catch pray such as Dryosaurus, it will ambush attack them. It is also notable that unlike the other large carnivores, who will fight each other, Allosaurus is hunted by other large hunters, unless it is on a rampage or has been modded.
