The chapter Almost Paradise is the first actual chapter in the novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. The chapter focuses on introducing Mike Bowman and his family, as well as introducing an unknown species of unafraid, almost birdlike lizard species in Costa Rica.
Plot[]
Mike Bowman, an American businessman, who is thirty-six takes his family for a two-week July holiday down to Costa Rica. His daughter Tina, a fun-loving 8-year-old, excitedly accumulates animal observations for her school project. When Bowman and his wife, Ellen, arrive at a deserted beach in the Cabo Blanco Biological Preserve, he insists that his worry-some wife will finally let their daughter have some fun and enjoy herself. Yet he soon regrets his decision; he hears his daughter's voice. She is screaming.
