Bertie was a South-African animal trainer who was the head trainer at Jurassic World in 2004. In that year she met several interns for the Bright Minds program including future Park Manager Claire Dearing.

Bertie was from the African nation of South Africa. She is dark skinned and has black curly hair. After experience working with wildlife she was hired by Simon Masrani to work as the head animal trainer at his park, Jurassic World. In this job she led other employees in the management and wellbeing of the dinosaurs that lived in the park. She and a team of twelve normally worked with young herbivores, helping them integrate into the habitats after they hatched. Bertie was also in charge of feeding Rexy, the resident Tyrannosaurus rex who came from Jurassic Park. These feedings happened on Thursdays while most of the carnivore caretakers were on Isla Sorna.

While Bertie was the head trainer in 2004, it is unknown if she remained in that position 11 year later by the events of the 2015 Isla Nublar Incident.
Trivia[]
- Bertie shares some similarities with Robert Muldoon. Both characters were animal experts who both came from African Countries (for Muldoon it was Kenya, Berite South Africa) who were in charge of managing the wildlife of their respective parks.
- Bertie is also described wearing clothes of a similar fashion - khakis and a tan flop hat - to Muldoon.
- On that note, Bertie may be a modern take on the "Great White Hunter" archetype of characters like Muldoon and Roland Tembo before her.
- Described as dark skinned, Bertie is most likely a black South African (compared to the white minority of her home country).
