Brontosaurus is a sauropod dinosaur from the Jurassic period of North America. It was originally a Chimera between Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus with the type species Brontosaurus excelsus being reclassified as a species of Apatosaurus called Apatosaurus excelsus. However, in 2015 Apatosaurus excelsus along with two other species of Apatosaurus were reassigned to Brontosaurus resurrecting the genus.

Story

Brontosaurus does not appear in the storyline of the movie canon, but it is mentioned Tim Murphy who misidentifies Jurassic Park's Brachiosaurus as Brontosaurus.[1]

Story

At the time of the major events in the novel canon, Brontosaurus was still a synonym of Apatosaurus and was used as nick name for said sauropod.

Jurassic Park: Builder

see Brontosaurus/Builder

Brontosaurus can be created in Jurassic Park: Builder using Dino-Bucks. Its appearance in the game is odd because when the game was made Brontosaurus was synonymous with Apatosaurus.

Islands of Adventure

The sauropod skeleton in the Visitor Center is a skeleton of Brontosaurus parvus.

Behind the scenes

Scriptwriter David Koepp confused Brachiosaurus for Brontosaurus in scene 15 of the Jurassic Park script.
