Chaohusaurus is an extinct genus of basal ichthyopterygian, depending on definition possibly ichthyosaur, from the Early Triassic of Chaohu and Yuanan, China. Chaohusaurus is one of the smallest known ichthyopterygians. During the twentieth century its length was estimated at half a metre, as only juvenile or subadult individuals had been found. The latest finds have increased this to about 180 centimetres. Its weight is estimated at about ten kilogrammes.
