The Marlin Model 1895SBL is a lever-action hunting rifle chambered in .45-70 manufactured by Marlin Firearms Co. Based on the Marlin Model 1895 introduced in 1972, the Model 1895SBL is a modernized version of the Model 1895 and was introduced in 2009. It features a stainless steel finish on all major metal components, a gray/black laminated hardwood stock with fluted comb, cut checkering, recoil pad, and nickel-plated sling swivel stud, an underbarrel 6–round tubular magazine, a big loop finger lever, side ejection, a stainless steel receiver, 18½-inch barrel, lever, trigger guard plate, magazine tube, and loading gate, a hammer block safety, an XS Sight Systems ghost ring sight with a front post sight, a scope mount, and an overall length of 37 inches and weight of 8 pounds.
A Marlin Model 1895SBL with a gray laminated stock, fitted with a Leopold Optics FX-II Scout IER 2.5x28mm scope with a silver finish, and carried on a sling with cartridge holders for the rifle's .45-70 Government soft-point rounds was the favored weapon of Owen Grady. During the 2015 Isla Nublar Incident at Jurassic World on Isla Nublar, Grady carried the weapon with him, but did not fire it until near the end of the incident, when he shot at the Indominus rex.
