George Lawala was a big-game hunter who appeared solely in the Jurassic Park comics. He is featured primarily in the series Jurassic Park: Raptor. He makes infrequent appearances in the Jurassic Park: Raptors Attack series during Robert Muldoon's flashbacks.

Comics[]

George Lawala was hired by Biosyn to bring them dinosaurs off of Isla Nublar. He chases Dr. Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler through a cave system before being attacked by a mother Raptor. He kills it, although it bites his leg while dying. Later, Lawala fights Alan and Ellie, ultimately capturing them, along with the five adolescent raptors.

On board a cargo boat, Lawala finds both Alan and Ellie and the raptors trying to break out of their cages; he knocks them all out with knock-out gas before having them moved onto a cargo plane. Here, the Raptors escape and encircle Alan and Ellie's cage; they leave when they realize that they cannot enter the cage (as Alan’s earlier attempt to pick the lock has jammed it) and Lawala, investigating the weight shift in the plane, is attacked by a Raptor, whose head he promptly shoots apart. Lawala lets Alan and Ellie out and gives them guns so that the three can all search the plane; Lawala kills another attacking Raptor with a shot to the chest, before the plane's pilot, Brennan, appears; the pair are both attacked by a female Raptor (which shall later be named Celia), and although Lawala injures it, he and Brennan are both killed by her.

Later, in the comics, he is shown to have been Muldoon's rival in Africa. Muldoon feels indebted to Lawala because Lawala saved his life when he was attacked by a lion outside of a bar in Nairobi. Lawala's death urges Muldoon to avenge him by capturing the raptors, dead or alive.

Trivia[]

  • Given his shared history with Muldoon, a white Kenyan hunter, Lawala may have also been a Kenyan but of black African descent.
