The story begins by revealing that the three velociraptors, Alf, Betty and Celia, are free in the jungle.
Drs. Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler make their way to a nearby village, where they are found by Dr. Ian Malcolm and Robert Muldoon. Grant and Sattler are surprised to see the two of them. They thought that Malcolm was still recovering from his injuries at the hospital and that Muldoon had been killed by raptors during the Isla Nublar Incident. Muldoon explains that when he returned from hunting the raptors, everyone had already been evacuated. Malcolm then expresses his concern that interacting with the velociraptors will have overwhelming consequences.
Later on, Grant tells Muldoon that the man who was hired to capture the raptors off Isla Nublar was George Lawala. Muldoon tells him that Lawala was his blood brother when they were in Africa. Hearing of Lawala's death makes Muldoon more intent on recapturing the raptors. Meanwhile, Malcolm tells Ellie that he's coming along with them because he would like the chance to spend some extended time with her. Strangely, everyone in their group seems to be developing a slight cold.
In the Colombian jungle, jungle natives find the velociraptors and come to believe that they are gods. The natives tend to the raptors when they fall ill to a mysterious virus. When the raptors recover, they kill the natives, ignoring their worship.
The story continued in Jurassic Park: Raptors Attack IV.
