Jurassic Park: Devils in the Desert is the first issue of IDWPublishing's The Devils in the Desert comic series. The story revolves around a small American town being the center of attacks by mysterious creatures and the efforts of Sheriff Will Tobias investigating the slaughter of cattle and people.
Plot[]
Tyler Franklin races into town on horseback in order to get help from the Sheriff. Will Tobias reacts with confusion at the sight of Tyler but goes along with him to help Eddie. Tyler explains that that morning he and his father discovered that fifteen animals of their cattle have been killed. Will drives Tyler back to the scene.. When they arrive, Tyler's father is nowhere to be seen and his horse has been killed / half eaten. Tobias brings Tyler back to his mother, Sara Franklin. Tobias urges Sara to move in with her parents, who live in the town, until the mystery has been solved.
Tobias and Deputy Daniel Jackson return to the crime scene. On the drive, Jackson asks Will if Sara is the woman he was "sweethearts" with. Will explains that they were together in high school and sometime afterwards. But that he enlisted in the Army and served to tours in the Gulf War. When he returned, Sara had married Eddie Franklin. When they arrive at the scene, Will and Jackson discover four-toed prints from a knuckle walking animal. They create plaster cast of the prints and send them to the State University.
In the morning, Charlie Gillette and two other farmers are attacked by a mysterious animal. During the night, Eddie's body is discovered across the state line. FBI agents Kowalski and Harding are send to assist Tobias in the investigation. Tobias helps the FBI agents get a helicopter in order to survey the area. Kowalski scouts the area by helicopter while Tobias and Harding follow by car. The helicopter is attacked by the mysterious creature and crashes.
Two scientists are send by the State University, paleontologists Dr. Jorge Ramirez and his daughter Monica Alvarez. They say that the plaster casts belonged to an animal that has been extinct for 65 million years. In the mountains, a hiking family is also attacked.

- In this issue, Special Agent Kowalski compares the setting to Mayberry, the small town and setting of The Andy Griffith Show. Ron Howard - film director / actor - originally starred on The Andy Griffith Show as a child. Coincidentally his daughter, American actress Bryce Dallas Howard would go on to star in the Jurassic World movies, sequels to the Jurassic Park Trilogy.
