The Jurassic Park animated series was a canceled animated series made by Universal Cartoon Studios based on the 1993 Jurassic Park film.

William Stout was hired for the project and designed the dinosaurs and characters of the series. According to Stout, it was not to be a "kiddy" show, with the studio wanting a mature prime time series though Stout also said that kids of all ages would enjoy the series. The series was to have the art style of a graphic novel and was to a blend of traditional and CG animation.

A trailer was commissioned and awaited approval from Steven Spielberg, but he did not bother to watch the trailer because he had grown tired of the great amount of merchandising and commercialization that Jurassic Park received. Despite the series being canceled, William Stout considered the trailer his 10th favorite dinosaur film.[1]

In the second part of the list of his favorite dinosaur films, Stout posted an inspirational sketch titled "Triceratops (Homage to Howard Hawks)" that he did for the series. It depicted Dr. Alan Grant in a vehicle trying to lasso a Triceratops as the dinosaur charged into his vehicle with pterosaurs flying in the background.[2]

In August of 2015, William Stout released concept art of the canceled series. From what was revealed, it was to feature many of the characters from the first film, including Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. John Hammond, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Ian Malcolm, and Tim and Lex Murphy. Ideas for scenes were also revealed as well, such as Tim Murphy feeding a Hypsilophodon with a hand puppet, Tim feeding a Pterodactylus called "Pterry", Lex Murphy scuba diving with a Tylosaurus chasing her, and the Murphy children in an inflatable boat fleeing from a Plesiosaurus.
