Career Edit

This information is taken from Jurassic Park Production Notes.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, he earned a Bachelors degree in Social Science from San Jose State University with the intention of becoming a teacher. But after his second day of graduate studies, Ferrero quit school and joined the California Actors Theatre, a repertory company in nearby Los Gatos, California. Among the plays he performed there were "Steambath", "Play it again, Sam" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

Ferrero moved to Los Angeles in 1979 and soon earned his first television role as a waiter on the popular sitcom "Soap". From there, he moved on to roles in numerous episodic shows including "The White Shadow", "Mork & Mindy", "M*A*S*H", "Hill St. Blues", "Cheers", "Moonlighting", "L.A. Law" and "Newheart" among others.

His theatrical background includes roles in the productions of "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" at the Mark Taper Forum and "Bullshot Crummond".

Jurassic ParkEdit

Martin Ferrero was hired to portrayed Donald Gennaro in Jurassic Park. During a question and answer session, after the Early April Preview Screening of Jurassic Park 3D at Academy's Goldwyn Theater, Ferrero told how he was asked for the role.[2]

"Steven called me in to me and told me, 'I'm thinking about casting you as Donald Gennaro and I do want to let you know how you're going to die'. I said, 'Wait a minute Donald Gennaro survives. In fact he saves the children in the book.' And (Spielberg) said, 'No, he's going to die on a toilet. A Tyrannosaurus rex is going to eat you.'"

In the early production he had tried to convince Steven Spielberg that it was better for the movie if Gennaro would live and Ian Malcolm would die.

"Of course if it was going to be a heroic Donald Gennaro they would have gotten a big star," he said. "I told him it was a terrific plan."

"When people recognize me on the street, they pause and then say, 'You were the guy who got eaten on the toilet in Jurassic Park,' " Ferrero says. "So yes, I'm the guy who died on the toilet. "

Ferrero was mobbed by fans at the special screening. "I'll take it," said Ferrero of the notoriety after signing another autograph. "It's not that bad."

Because Jurassic Park had popularised dinosaurs the surnames of its main actors were used to make the species name of the Tianchisaurus genus. The species name has become nedegoapeferima, in which the part fe are the first two letters of Ferrero.

Martin Ferrero never appeared in The Making of or Return to Jurassic Park interviews.
