The security turret is a security item found in Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. The weapon can be placed around the player's park and is programed to shoot dinosaurs of your choice. Carnivores, herbivores, or both can be selected as targets. The turret is an unmanned gun with standard machine gun firing rate. It is also possible for the player to man the weapon. The player starts with 100 bullets and gets another set everytime the current one runs out. You can zoom in while manning a sentry turret for increased accuracy. However, reloading takes about 7-10 seconds so the unmanned auto- targeting system is better.

The sentry turret's primary use is to retire dinosaurs. They are recommended around the enclosures of dangerous dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus or Spinosaurus, in case they get out. The other 2 places for a turret to go are around the path and 2 random areas on the island for wandering dinosaurs.
