So I was watching Jurassic Park again for the billionth time and again theres something thats still bugging me about the whole scene with Ian and his flare. When the T Rex breaks out and starts terrorising Lex and Tim Gennaro runs to the bathroom while Dr's Grant and Malcolm try and distract the beast with flares so they can save Tim and Lex. While I'm not going to question Dr Malcolm's heroism to lead Rexy away we do see Dr Grant take a flare beforehand and after he gets Rexy's attention he throws it into her paddock and she begins to follow it away from the children that is of course until Dr Malcolm ignites his own flare and leads it away so what I'm wondering is why does he do so when Rexy is already wandering off. I know she probably would find the flare pretty quick but even so if the Dr's moved fast enough they could get Lex and Tim out quickly before Rexy returned to further demolish the park cars though whether Gennaro would still be devoured is anyones guess but I don't see him getting off that toilet. So yeah why would Malcolm risk possible death to distract Rexy when shes already distracted?
